the WAC preseason poll.
San Jose, Calif. – The San Jose State University women’s soccer team will hold its first official practice of the 2005 season on Wednesday, August 10, at Spartan Field, at 8:30 a.m.

"We are all excited to get started," says second-year head coach Dave Siracusa, who opens practice with a 31-player squad. "With the physical testing in the morning, we want to find out if all the girls have been doing their summer workouts. I’m sure that they have. We are then going to get right into it with the ball in the afternoon, and work on some one-on-one, tactical stuff. Our system has been in place for a year now. We just have to work out a way to fit the system."

Siracusa’s Spartans will continue with two-a-day practices each day through Sunday, August 14. Conditioning-heavy morning practices from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. will be followed by tactical sessions from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. After a day off on Monday, August 15, San Jose State has two final days of double practices, August 16-17. A single practice on Thursday, August 18, leads into an exhibition game against Sonoma State University at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, at Spartan Field.

All practices are at Spartan Field and are open to the public.

San Jose State kicks off the 2005 regular season with a non-conference home contest against UC Irvine on Friday, August 26, at Spartan Stadium beginning at 7:30 p.m.
