San Jose State Women's Soccer Wins Against the University of Nevada in Overtime

SAN JOSE, Calif.—The visiting University of Nevada took the San Jose State University women’s soccer team to overtime, but was unable to secure its first win of the season in a Western Athletic Conference game at Spartan Stadium Friday night. The Spartans won, 4-3, in overtime on Kerry Blaschke’s second goal of the night.

The teams took a 1-1 tie into the half, but the Wolf Pack took the lead shortly into the second period when Taryn Harmon was able to score off Shanelle Miller’s pass at the 49:35 mark.

The Spartans tied the game briefly on Blaschke’s of the night at 63:29. It took the Wolf Pack less than 20 seconds to tie the game when Amy Jackson scored unassisted.

With less than five minutes remaining in the game, the Spartans knotted the match up when Kelly Prior scored her first goal of the season.

The game ended on Blaschke’s second goal, improving the Spartans record to 5-9-0 overall and 3-2 in WAC games.

The loss gives Nevada a 0-11-1 record overall and 0-3-1 in WAC games this year.

The Spartans will host their last home game of the season in a conference match against Fresno State on Oct. 25 at Spartans Stadium. The game begins at 7:30 p.m.
