San Jose State Women's Soccer Team Loses at Home to Oregon

SAN JOSE, Calif.— The San Jose State University women’s soccer team lost to the University of Oregon, 5-2, Tuesday night at Spartan Stadium.

The Ducks scored three unanswered goals in the first half to take control of the game. The goals came in just over ten minutes, including the eventual game winner from Nicole Garbin at 37:28.

Oregon’s first goal came on Annie Murphy’s shot off a pass from Sarah Denner at 27:38. It was soon followed up with goals by Chalise Baysa and the first of two from Nicole Garbin.

The Spartans scored the next two goals to come within one. Emily New scored her first goal of the season at 39:13. Spartan forward Vanessa Afonso then scored at 56:50 for her second of the year.

Oregon scored twice more in the second half to secure the win and improve its record to 2-1-1. The loss drops the Spartans’ record to 1-3-0.
