"I now work for a company called First Investors and I'm training to be a financial service representative," said Katie, the recent graduate at San Jose State University's May 28 Commencement. "I love my job and I'll be doing exactly what I majored in."
In her two-year soccer career at San Jose State, Katie became an integral part of the Spartans' success that clinched the program's only two regular-season conference titles in back-to-back seasons.
"Soccer made me successful in the classroom and I will continue to play as long as I can. At San Jose State, I had such a great experience with my coaches and teammates both on and off the field," she said.
Her soccer career will continue post-graduation. The forward now plays for the North Bay F.C. Pacific Wave in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL), the highest level of women's amateur soccer in the United States.
"I really enjoy playing at this level. A lot of my (San Jose State) teammates are playing in the league so it's a great reminder of the experiences we had in college," Knopp said.
