Ryanne Banks, a member of the San Jose State University women's soccer team, is participating in the fifth annual NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference, which continues through Friday, June 1 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Banks is one of 300 student-athletes attending the conference from NCAA member institutions that participate in the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program.
Banks, who is majoring in social work, is a two-time San Jose State Scholar-Athlete and was named a Western Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete during the 1999-2000 school year.
The mission of the leadership conference is to provide a diverse group of
the nation's top student-athletes an opportunity to participate in
activities that will enable them to become better leaders on their campuses
and in their communities. Participants will enhance their communication
skills, decision-making and problem-solving skills, critical-thinking
