The second annual "6-A-Side Adult Soccer Tournament" held on April 26 and sponsored by San Jose State University’s men’s and women’s soccer teams, raised nearly $5,000 to help supports both of the university’s soccer programs.

This year saw a more entertaining format, with music and a barbecue. The funds raised will help offset the costs of uniforms, scholarships and travel expenses.

Teams from San Jose, the Bay Area, Sacramento and Fresno participated. The tournament took place on the Men's and Women's practice fields, which were divided into five fields 40 by 60 yards in length.

The men’s open field had eight teams participating. The women’s open also had eight teams entered. Also playing in the tournament were four teams in the men’s over-30 bracket.

Plans are already in the works for next year’s event with the tournament’s champions looking to return and defend their titles.
