Women's Soccer At Santa Clara In Spring Game Thursday

San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose State University women’s soccer team, currently in the midst of its spring season, will take on South Bay rival Santa Clara University in an exhibition training match at Santa Clara’s Buck Shaw Stadium on Thursday, April 12. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., with the teams expected to play a regulation 90-minute contest.

The Spartans played a pair of games which featured three 30-minute periods, at Spartan Field on Saturday, March 3, to kick off the competitive portion of their 2007 spring season.

San Jose State first lost to the Golden Bears of California, 3-0. In their second and final game of the day, the Spartans dropped a 2-0 decision to the California Storm, an amateur member of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), based in Sacramento, Calif.

Following Thursday night’s meeting with Santa Clara, San Jose State will return to Spartan Field this Sunday, April 15, for two more games with three 30-minute periods. The Spartans will host Humboldt State University at 10:00 a.m., and the San Francisco Nighthawks, also of the WPSL, at 2:00 p.m. Humboldt State will take on the Nighthawks at 12:00 p.m.

San Jose State is scheduled to host Sonoma State University on Saturday, April 21, to round out the spring schedule. A start time has yet to be announced for that contest.
