The short, training-focused spring season, comprises of eight matches. Admission is free to attend all matches.
The Spartans opened against the North Bay rival Saint Mary's Gaels on March 5 in a 1-1 draw on the Cytomax Fields at the Mustang Soccer Complex in Danville. Directly after, San Jose State played UC Santa Barbara and came up short, 1-0.
The Gaels enter the 2011 season on a high note going 8-7-4 overall in 2010, notching their first winning season since 2001. The Gauchos also tallied eight wins going 8-9-2 in 2010.
Head coach Jeff Leightman will have a chance to see how his team fares against a competitive selection of women's soccer teams. Cal enters the match Friday night, 3-0, in spring season competition. The Bears appeared in the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament in 2010 with a 9-6-5 overall record and dropped their first round match, 2-1, to Duke.
Returning to action on April 16 and April 17, the Spartans will host Sonoma State and the California Storm out of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL).
San Jose State will then host a doubleheader on April 23 against the defending Coast Conference League champions' Foothill College and Cal State Monterey Bay.
Spring season will conclude on Saturday, April 30, on Spartan Field at noon against SJSU women's soccer alumni.
