Seven quality California high school women's soccer prospects sign

San Jose, Calif. Midfielders Brittany Boehm, Roxanna Kamal, Natalie Malone, and Hallsie Pacheco, forwards Katie Bonadies and Mollyrose McBride and goalkeeper Christina Butera have signed a National Letter-of-Intent and will be joining the San Jose State University women's soccer program as freshmen in 2006.

Six of the seven signees are from Northern California and the seventh is from the San Diego area.

“I think this is going to be a really good class,” says San Jose State coach Dave Siracusa, whose 2005 Spartans advanced to the Western Athletic Conference championship game. “They are all great kids, they are all hard-workers, and they are all talented.

“I thought last year’s class was going to be a really good class, and they turned out better than I expected,” adds the Spartans' coach about a group which featured WAC “Freshman of the Year” Liz Behlen. “This year’s class, I feel the same way. It’s easier to say in retrospect. I can talk about the 2005 class and say, wow, they exceeded expectations. I think (the 2006 class) is definitely going to turn up the heat on the group that’s already here, and that can only be a positive thing.”

Boehm, from California High School in San Ramon; McBride, a product of Burlingame High School; and Pacheco, from Lodi High School, have participated in the Olympic Development program during their high school careers. Bonadies, from Los Gatos High, Kamal from San Jose's Presentation High and Pacheco have led their high school team or their league in goal scoring.

Butera, also from San Jose's Presentation High, Kamal and McBride have been named All-West Catholic League selections. Bonadies and McBride are former All-Central Coast Section honorees.

Malone, from Academy of Our Lady of Peace in San Diego, and Pacheco have played for championship age-group club teams.
