Women's Gymnastics Signs Three For 2013

San Jose-Allison Bellingham from Irvine, Calif., Alyssa Kaschak from Allen, Texas, and Marissa Unpingco from Martinez, Calif., have signed National Letters-of-Intent to compete for the San Jose State women's gymnastics team beginning with the 2013 season, announced Spartan head coach Wayne Wright.

Bellingham competes for South Coast Gymnastics, the same club that produced former Spartans Shanice Howard and Katie Merritt.  At the 2011 Region 1 Level 10 Championships, she was 11th on the beam and 13th on the bars.  She finished fourth on the beam at the 2011 SoCal State Championships and tied for seventh on the bars and 10th in the all-around.  Bellingham was 10th in the all-around at the 2010 Region 1 and SoCal State Championships meets.

Kaschak competes for Metroplex Gymnastics in Allen.  She finished ninth in the Level 10 all-around at the 2011 Junior Olympics National Invitational Tournament.  During the past season, Kaschak placed in the top-10 in the all-around in every meet.  She was the 2008 and 2009 Level 9 Region 3 Beam Champion.  She also placed 11 in the all-around at the 2009 Western Championships.

Unpingco currently competes for Edge Gymnastics.  She finished ninth in the all-around and third on the beam at the 2011 Region 1 Level 10 Championships.  Unpingco won the bars at the 2011 NorCal State Championships and finished sixth in the all-around, eighth on the beam and ninth on the vault at the meet.  In 2010, Unpingco was second on the bars and third in the all-around at the state championships.

"I am really excited for these three gymnasts to join the Spartan program," said Wright.  "They are very talented gymnasts who will contribute to the Spartan program.  Not only are they good gymnasts, they are also outstanding students.
