Gym Talk - Kristie Wei

Hey Spartan Fans!

I'm Kristie Wei, a freshman on the team, coming all the way from New Jersey! Its been such a big transition coming from so far away, but all the girls and coaches have been really supportive and have really made me feel like I belong here.

The first night after we moved in we went to a team/family dinner. It was a great way for everyone's families and especially us girls to all get to know each other a little bit better. There's a total of eight freshmen this year, so it was a great way for us to kick off the year!

The next weekend, we went to Lake Tulloch for our annual team retreat. I may be a little biased when I say this, but it was probably the best retreat ever! We had so much fun playing team games and just getting to know each other! There was a night of skits as well, and each class competed against each other for the top spot. The freshman had only about 15 minutes to put something together, but I must say that we did a pretty great job; with our rendition of "Spartan Ladies", "Teach Me How to Spartan" and the fight song!  We came out on top! It was definitely an exciting moment! We are such a strong family already, and it is definitely nice to know that I have 17 sisters to look after me!

We also went to dinner at the Gadways one night, and it was really great to meet such big contributors to the Spartan community.  The Gadways are our team ambassadors, travel with us to some of our meets and are probably the biggest Spartan fans I know.

School has been in session for a little over two weeks now, and I think I'm finally adjusted to the grind of school and gym. All my classes have been really good so far, and I haven't even gotten lost yet!

Open practice started last week, and it was great to finally get back in the gym and start working towards our goals.  Everyone is looking really great, and I think that we are definitely moving in the right direction.

We also had a little "friendly" competition in the gym last week.  We were split into two teams and competed against each other, showing everyone the skills that we've been working hard on all summer. Everyone really stepped it up, and the competitive fire definitely came out. We have set the bar high for this season, but there's no doubt in my mind that we will accomplish our goals.

I am beyond excited for this year, and we promise that Spartan Gymnastics won't let you down! Thank you for continued support, we couldn't do it without our fans!

Go Spartans!
