Two-Time National All-Around Champion Signs

San Jose—Julia Greer, the two-time YMCA All-Around National Champion, signed a National Letter-of-Intent to compete for the San Jose State women’s gymnastics team for the 2011 season. Spartan head coach Wayne Wright made the announcement.

Greer competes for the Toby Wells Mission YMCA, the same gym of current Spartan Katie Valleau. Greer competed at the 2010 Junior Olympics where she scored a career-best 9.350 on vault to finish tied for 22nd. She finished sixth in the all-around and third on the floor at the Level 10 Regional Championships this spring. At the 2010 Southern California State Championships, Greer was second on the beam and third on the floor and in the all-around.

An honor student, Greer graduated from Point Loma High School in San Diego this past June.

“I am looking forward to having Julia join our team,” said Wright. “She is a very graceful gymnast with lots of interesting skills. She will have an impact for us on floor and beam. Plus, not only is she a great gymnast, she is a great student.”
