Women's Gymnastics Team Honored At End-Of-The-Year Banquet

San Jose, Calif. - The 2014 San José State University women's gymnastics team was honored on Saturday at the team's annual end-of-the-year banquet. Individual awards were handed out and the Spartans’ three seniors, Bekah Gher, Julia Greer and Cassandra Harrison, were honored.

Cassandra Harrison, a President's Scholar for earning a 4.00 in two-consecutive semesters, and four-time Academic All-Conference honoree, was given the team's Academic Excellence and Most Inspirational awards.

2014 MPSF Gymnast of the Year Julia Greer was honored with the team's Leadership and Most Outstanding awards for the second year in a row. The second-year captain is also a Dean's Scholar and 2014 NACGC/W Scholastic All-American.

Cami Guyer earned Team Spirit accolades, also for the second-straight year. She was an All-MPSF honoree in every event, winning two bars titles during the season, and an MPSF Gymnast of the Week.

Alyssa Kaschak was named the Most Improved Gymnast. She competed in every 2014 meet on both bars and beam, and performed career-best routines on both events in 2014.

The Most Valuable Gymnast was named Bekah Gher. The two-time MPSF Gymnast of the Week won seven individual event titles, and earned All-MPSF accolades on vault, beam and in the all-around.
