Women's Gymnastics Signs Local Level 10 Gymnast

San JoseTiffany Louie, a Level 10 gymnast from San Mateo Gymnastics, has signed a national letter of intent to compete for the San Jose State women’s gymnastics team as announced by head coach Wayne Wright.

Louie, from Millbrae, finished sixth in the all-around at the Region 1 Championships and qualified to compete at the 2006 USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic National Championships at the end of April in Oklahoma City, Okla. Her strongest event is the bars.

“Tiffany is a great bar worker and will add much depth on that event,” said Wright, who just completed his fifth season at the school. “She is also a great all-around gymnast and is excited to compete for San Jose State.”

Louie joins three gymnasts who signed in the fall Bailey Baker from Las Vegas, Jessica Khoshnood from Bellevue, Wash., and Kelli Fournier from Bellevue, Wash. The three fall signees also have qualified for the Junior Olympic National Championships. Baker qualified as the number two seed from region one, while Khoshnood and Fournier are the first and fifth seeds from region two, respectively.

San Jose State just finished its competitive season after finished fourth at the NCAA West Regional. The finish is the highest for any Spartan team at the regional. Michelle Minotti finished seventh in the all-around at the meet to lead the team.
