Spartans Compete Saturday at NCAA West Regional

Lily Swann and Gabrielle Targosz will represent the San Jose State women's gymnastics team this Saturday evening at the 2010 NCAA Women's Gymnastics West Regional at UCLA. The meet begins at 6 p.m., inside Pauley Pavilion.

Swann competes in the all-around after qualifying for the regional with a 38.680 regional qualifying score. She rotates with Arkansas and starts the meet on the floor, followed by vault, bye, bars, beam and bye. Swann was the team's best performer on vault this season with a 9.835 RQS and scored a 9.800 or better in seven meets. She was a first team All-Western Athletic Conference honoree in the all-around after scoring a career-best 39.100 at the conference championships.

Targosz qualified for the regional as a floor specialist. She competes in the fourth rotation of the meet after the Arizona State team. Targosz was the team's top performer on floor with a 9.845 RQS. She has scored a 9.850 or better the past three meets and was a second team All-WAC honoree after tying for fifth at the conference meet.

Tickets for the regional championships can be purchased at UCLA's Central Ticket Office, (310) UCLA-WIN and online at www.tickets.ucla.edu. Adult reserved tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for youth (16 and under). General admission prices are $10 for adults and $8 for youth.
