Denver, Colo.-----Sixteen San Jose State University student-athletes from the sports of men's basketball, women's basketball, women's swimming and diving and women's gymnastics were named to the 2009-10 Western Athletic Conference all-academic team.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
Gymnasts Jessica Khoshnood, Tiffany Louie and Gabrielle Targosz and swimmer Hannah Tringham earned Academic All-WAC honors for the fourth time. Six more are three-time recipients.
The current group joins the 41 San Jose State student-athletes from the fall sports of football, men's and women's cross country and volleyball to earn Academic All-WAC distinction in 2009-10. The 56 Spartans to earn Academic All-WAC honors thus far represents a 24 percent increase year-over-year.
