Indianapolis, Ind.--Women's gymnasts Cami Guyer, Kaitlin Won and Maddie Herrwill represent San José State University at the 2015 NCAA Berkeley Regional on Saturday, April 4, at 6 p.m., at Haas Pavilion.
The three advanced to regionals as all-around competitors based on their regional qualifying score (RQS) - an average of the top-six scores, of which three must be from away meets, removing the highest score, and averaging the remaining five.
The 2015 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Year, Guyer is the top all-around competitor (not on a team) in the region with a 39.165 RQS. Last weekend, she won the MPSF vault title with a 9.900, the MPSF floor title with a 9.875, and the MPSF all-around title at 39.225. Guyer will rotate with Utah throughout the meet. Her competition order is bars-beam-bye-floor-vault-bye.
Won qualified with a 39.045 RQS. She has recorded a 39.000 or better in the all-around in five meets including the past four. She tied for third in the all-around at the MPSF Championships with a 39.175. Won will rotate with Georgia, and her competition order is bye-bars-beam-bye-floor-vault.
Herr had a 39.010 RQS to qualify for the regional. A transfer from The Ohio State University, she has the team's top score on bars with a 9.875 twice this season and has won four titles on the event. Herr will rotate with Boise State and begin on beam, followed by a bye-floor-vault-bye-bars.
The top two teams and top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship meet in Fort Worth, Texas, April 17-19, hosted by Texas Woman's and the Knight Eady Sports Group. In addition, the event winners at each regional will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not a part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
Tickets are now available for purchase on CalBears.com or by calling 800-462-3277. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth (17 and under), seniors (65 and older) and students from participating institutions.
