Denver-For the sixth time this season, San Jose State women's gymnast Thomasina Wallace has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week.
Wallace, a senior from Pomona, Calif. (Diamond Ranch HS) broke the San Jose State all-around record for the third time this season and tied two other school records in a meet at Washington with Central Michigan. Wallace kept her record-breaking season going last Friday night as she broke the all-around record with a 39.575, breaking her old record of 39.525 set at Utah State earlier this season. Wallace won three of the four individual titles at the meet. She tied the Spartan beam record with a 9.900 to win the title. She also won the floor title with a 9.875. On vault, she scored a 9.850, tying for second place. In the final rotation, Wallace tied her own school record she holds on bars with a 9.950. Wallace now ranks eighth nationally in the all-around.
Wallace and the Spartans compete in their final home meet of the season this Friday, March 16. San Jose State hosts Sacramento State and UC Davis beginning at 7 p.m., at Spartan Gym, located on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets.
