Women's Gymnastics At BYU Quad Meet

The Spartan women’s gymnastics team continues on the road with a quadrangular meet at Brigham Young Friday night at 7 p.m. MST.  The four teams competing including the Spartans, Cougars, Boise State and Utah State.

This is the second time the Spartans and Cougars have competed against each other this season.  San Jose State defeated BYU and UC Davis, 192.350-190.650, on January 16, at Spartan Gym.  

This will also be the second meeting for the Spartans and Broncos.  Boise State visited Spartan Gym on January 23, and defeated the Spartans, 193.900-193.700, for San Jose State’s only loss of the season.

This is the first meeting between the Spartans and Aggies this season.  The two teams will compete at Spartan Gym on Sunday, March 8, at 2 p.m.

San Jose State currently ranks 28th in the country, based on its regional qualifying score of 193.510.  The vault team is tied for 24th with a 48.660 RQS, while the bars team is 21st with a 48.535 RQS.

Two Spartans rank among the to-25 gymnasts in the nation.  Thomasina Wallace is 19th on the bars with a 9.830 RQS, while Veronica Porte is tied for 14th on the floor with a 9.845 RQS.

San Jose State is coming off a 194.000-193.700 win at Sacramento State Sunday afternoon.  Thomasina Wallace led the team with wins on the bars and floor and in the all-around.  For her efforts, she was named the Co-Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week.
