The Spartan women's gymnastics team looks to keep the momentum of last week's spectacular performances on Senior Night going this Friday night in a meet at Southern Utah. The meet begins at 7 p.m. MST, and live stats and video will be available at www.suutbirds.com with links posted on the San Jose State web site.
San Jose State enters the meet ranked 34th in the country, while Southern Utah is 27th with a 194.208 average. The Thunderbirds are the defending Western Athletic Conference champions and have won the past two meets over Utah State (194.000) and at Cal State Fullerton (193.000). The team also won a huge home meet over UCLA in January with a 194.750 team score.
The Spartans are coming off one of their best meets in school history. The team scored a 195.550 last Friday against Boise State, UC Davis and Seattle Pacific. Thomasina Wallace tied the school record on beam with a 9.900 and scored a season-best 39.325 in the all-around. She also won the bars with a 9.900 and earned WAC Gymnast of the Week honors for her performances.
Tickets for the 2011 WAC Women's Gymnastics Championships are now on sale through the Spartan Athletics Ticket Office. The championships will be held on March 19 at The Event Center. Fans can call (408) 924-SJTX (7589) or 1-877-SJSU-TIX (757-8849) to order tickets.
Fans can choose one of two options for tickets. Reserved tickets are $10 per adult, while youth 12 and under are $7. General admission prices are $8 for an adult and $5 for youth 12 and under. Students from participating institutions with a valid student ID can purchase discounted general admission tickets for $5.
