Women's gymnastics ranked #34 in the nation

San Jose, Calif.---The San Jose State University women’s gymnastics team has been ranked #34 in the nation and #5 in the West Region it was announced Monday, February 13.

“It’s good to know that we’re now able to compete against some of the best teams in the country,” head coach Wayne Wright said, “although we are not that concerned with the rankings and we just go out to do the best we can each week.”

Both rankings are the highest national and regional rankings achieved in San Jose State’s gymnastics program history. The Spartans have a team high score of 193.125, which they scored in their defeat of Cal State Fullerton on January 27. With the #5 ranking in the West Region, the Spartans are on pace to qualify as a team for the NCAA Regional Championships for the first time since 2003 and the second time in program history.
