"Think Pink" Meet Saturday Vs. Southern Utah

San Jose State returns to Spartan Gym this weekend for the first of two home meets over the next two weeks. The Spartans host Southern Utah this Saturday night, February 16, at 7 p.m., in Spartan Gym.

Saturday night’s meet is designated as “Think Pink” night as the Spartan gymnasts will be wearing pink leotards to help raise awareness of breast cancer. Adults who wear pink to the meet will pay the youth ticket price of $3. Youth (12 and under) who wear pink to the meet will pay just $1 for a ticket. Special raffles and giveaways will take place throughout the meet.

San Jose State enters Saturday night with a 7-1 record after losing at Boise State this past Sunday evening. The Spartans had a 191.600 team score. The team scored a season-best 48.625 on floor and added a 48.350 on vault. Individually, Veronica Porte won the all-around with a season-high 39.025. Emily Stebbins and Shanice Howard each scored a season-best 9.775 on floor. On beam, Leah Bigelow scored a 9.800, while Stebbins had a 9.725.

Southern Utah enters the meet with a perfect 5-0 record and performs at Sacramento State Friday night before traveling to San Jose on Saturday. The Thunderbirds are ranked 15th nationally with a 194.942 team average.
