Women's Gymnastics Hosts Southern Utah Saturday Night

After spending the first three weeks of the season competing on the road, the San Jose State women's gymnastics team opens the home portion of the 2010 season this Saturday night, January 30. The Spartans face Western Athletic Conference opponent Southern Utah at 7 p.m., in Spartan Gym. Live stats will be available at www.sjsuspartans.com.

The Spartans enter Saturday night's meet with a 5-2 after going 1-1 last week against California and UCLA in Berkeley. San Jose State scored a 191.950 at the meet to finish second behind UCLA. Individually, Thomasina Wallace won the all-around for the third time this season with a 38.975. Lily Swann competed in the all-around for the first time in her career and scored a 38.625.

Southern Utah comes to Spartan Gym Saturday night after competing Friday night in a tri-meet at Sacramento State with Cal State Fullerton. The Thunderbirds enter the weekend with a 2-0 record after winning at BYU and defeating Utah State at home.

The Spartans won the meeting between the two teams last year in Cedar City, Utah. The Spartans scored the fifth-highest team score with a 195.250-194.600 win on March 6, 2009. Wallace won the all-around with a 39.375, tying the second-highest score in school history.

Individual meet ticket prices are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for youth 12-and-under. Youth in their Club Gymnastics shirts or sweats will be $1.00. Seating is General Admission at Spartan Gym. All doors to the facility open 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to every home meet.

Spartan Gym is located in Yosh Uchida Hall, on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets on the San Jose State campus. Fans can park on campus in the Fourth Street Garage. A parking permit can be purchased in the garage for $5.00.
