Women's Gymnastics Hosts Hornets Friday Night

After hitting all 24 routines and scoring a season-best last Friday night, the San Jose State women's gymnastics team continues its homestand this Friday with a meet against Sacramento State.  The meet begins at 7 p.m., inside Spartan Gym, with doors opening at 5:45 p.m.

Live scoring from the meet will be available on the front page of www.sjsuspartans.com.  The page will go live on the Spartan web site at approximately 6:45 p.m., and will be updated every few minutes.  Fans will need to refresh their page periodically for the most up-to-date results.

San Jose State enters the meet with a 5-1 record after winning triangular meets the past two weeks.  The Spartans scored a 194.700 last week against Utah State and Wisconsin-Eau Claire, swept the individual titles on all four apparatus and Thomasina Wallace won the all-around with a 39.075.

For her effort on floor last week, Wallace was named the WAC Verizon Specialist of the Week.  She received a career-best 9.925 on floor to win the event and was the first time a Spartan gymnast recorded a 9.925 or higher on floor in a meet since 2004.  Wallace also won the vault with a 9.800 and a beam with a 9.750.

Other Spartan winners last week included Lily Swann who tied for first on the vault with a 9.800 and on bars with a 9.775.  Alyssa Telles-Nolan also tied for first on the bars with a 9.775.

Sacramento State enters the meet with a 2-3 record and scored a season-best 190.950 last Friday night in a meet at Southern Utah.  Nicole Meiller led the team on bars in the meet as she tied for first with a 9.800.

Individual meet ticket prices are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for youth 12-and-under. Youth in their Club Gymnastics shirts or sweats will be $1.00. Seating is General Admission at Spartan Gym. All doors to the facility open 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to every home meet.

Spartan Gym is located in Yosh Uchida Hall, on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets on the San Jose State campus. Fans can park on campus in the Fourth Street Garage. A parking permit can be purchased in the garage for $5.00.
