The San José State women's gymnastics team hosts its second meet of the season this Friday, January 16, against #10 California and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The meet starts at 7 p.m., inside The Event Center.
The Spartans are coming off a 193.175 team score last week against Stanford. Senior Cami Guyer won the all-around with a 39.050 and placed third on the vault at 9.800 and the floor at 9.825. San José State enters the meet ranked 31st in the nation as a team, 23rd on vault, 36th on bars, 35th on beam and 31st on floor.
California won its first two meets of the year with a 195.175 at the NorCal Classic and 194.875 in a dual meet at Sacramento State. Among national rankings, the Bears vault team is 12th, bars team 14th, beam team 23rd and floor team 12th.
UW-L won its first meet of the season with a 185.000 at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational. Eagle Samantha Wiekamp won the all-around with a 37.050 and recorded three second-place finishes on the vault (9.450), beam (9.575) and floor (9.600).
After the meet, kids can join the gymnasts on the floor for "Dance Night with the Gymnasts." The Spartan gymnasts will sign autographs after the meet as well.
Fans who cannot make it to The Event Center Friday night can watch a free, live stream of the meet and live scoring. Both links are found on the front page of www.SJSUSpartans.com under the Calendar, and will be available up to two hours prior to the start of the meet.
Tickets are available at the door for $5. The Event Center is located on the corner of Seventh and San Carlos Streets. Parking is available for $5 at the South Garage, located on the corner of Seventh and San Salvador Streets.
