Women's Gymnastics Picked Third In WAC Poll

DENVER - The Western Athletic Conference announced its 2010 preseason gymnastics coaches' poll, as voted on by the six head coaches in the league. San Jose State was selected third, behind Boise State and Southern Utah.

Boise State, the 2008 and 2009 WAC champion, received four first place votes for its 24-point total. Southern Utah garnered two first place votes, but ended up just two points short of BSU with 22 points. San Jose State captured the third spot with 17 points. Sacramento State finished fourth in the poll with 12 points, while Cal State Fullerton placed fifth with eight points. Utah State was selected sixth with seven points.

San Jose State continues competition this Friday night with a meet against Boise State and Sacramento State at the Grand Sierra Spa and Casino in Reno. The meet begins at 7 p.m.

The 2010 Western Athletic Conference gymnastics championship will take place at Titan Gym in Fullerton, Calif. on Saturday, March 27.
