Women's Gymnastics Begins 2008 Season This Friday

The 2008 San Jose State women’s gymnastics team makes its debut this Friday night in a meet with Cal State Fullerton.  The meet begins at 7 p.m., in Spartan Gym.  Doors open at 6 p.m.

Head coach Wayne Wright begins his seventh year at the helm of the program.  He has taken two Spartan teams to appearances at the NCAA West Regional (2004, 2006) and numerous individual competitors to the NCAA Regional in the all-around and event specialist.

Senior Michelle Minotti and juniors Veronica Porte and Alise Blackwell highlight the 13 returnees for San Jose State to go with six newcomers.   Minotti tied the Spartan beam record last season with a 9.900 at Sacramento State.  Porte and Blackwell each competed in the all-around at the NCAA West Regional last season.
