Boise, Idaho--Spartan women's gymnast Maddie Herr recorded a career-best 39.350 in the all-around to lead the San José State women's gymnastics team to its best team score of the season at 195.350, at a tri-meet won by host Boise State (197.325) with Southern Utah (196.275).
Herr tied for the seventh-best all-around score in school history with her career-best 39.350, tying Thomasina Wallace and Cami Guyer. Herr led the Spartans on the vault with a 9.850, and the bars at 9.875. She added a 9.800 on beam and a 9.825 on floor.
The Spartans started the meet on beam with a 48.875. Allison Bellingham finished tied for second as she led the team with a 9.825. Herr was next at 9.800, followed by Alyssa Kaschak with a season-best 9.775, Marissa Unpingco at 9.750, Alisa Bogdan at 9.725 and Amy Bellingham at 9.650.
The floor team scored a 48.900 in the second rotation. Ellie Pascoe-Long tied her season high with a 9.850 to lead the Spartans. Herr had a 9.825, followed by Erica Matos at 9.800, Josalyn Ray at 9.725, Bogdan at 9.700 and Haleigh Shepard at 8.950.
The final rotation found the Spartans scoring a 48.750 on bars. After Herr's 9.875, Kaschak recorded a 9.750, Heinl and Allison Bellingham at 9.725, Shepard at 9.675 and Unpingco at 9.650.
San José State now prepares for next week's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships. The meet will be held on Saturday, March 19, at The Nest on the Sacramento State campus, and begins at 6 p.m. PST. Fans unable to attend can watch on FloGymnastics.
