Seattle, Wash.--After a tough first rotation, the San José State women's gymnastics team rallied in the final three rotations to score a 193.925 Friday night to win a triangular meet at Seattle Pacific (192.275) with Alaska Anchorage (193.325).

Three Spartan gymnasts tied for first in three events.  Josalyn Ray tied for first on vault with M'rcy Matsunami of Alaska Anchorage with a career-best 9.800.  Maddie Herr tied for first on bars with a 9.800 with SPU's Maria Hundley.  Allison Bellingham recorded a career-best 9.875 on beam to tie with Hundley.

The Spartans started the meet on bars, usually the strongest event for the team, and had to count a fall in the team's season-low 47.625.  Herr anchored the team with a 9.800, followed by Haleigh Shepard's season-best 9.750, Marissa Unpingco at 9.620 and Rachel Heinl at 9.600.  The first two Spartans on the bars fell - Kaitlin Won at 8.700 and Alyssa Kaschak at 8.850.

The beam team picked up the Spartans with a 48.925, a season-best and tying for the eighth-best score in school history.  Again, the anchor led the event team as Allison Bellingham received a career-best 9.875.  Unpingco followed at 9.825, then Alisa Bogdan with a season-best 9.775, Amy Bellingham with a season-best 9.750, Kaschak at 9.700 and Herr at 9.625.

The floor team kept the momentum going in the third rotation with a 48.775.  Consistent scores were the key for the Spartans with the scores between 9.675 and 9.775.  Erica Matos and Ellie Pascoe-Long led the team at 9.775, followed by Ray and Shepard at 9.750, Herr at 9.725, and Bogdan at 9.675.

The Spartans finished the meet on the vault with a 48.600.  Ray tied for first with a season-high 9.800, followed by Matos at 9.750, Heinl at 9.700, Pascoe-Long and Herr at 9.675 and Hannah Gilbert at 9.600.

San José State returns to The Event Center next Sunday, March 6, for the final home meet of the season.  The team hosts UC Davis and Brown in a meet beginning at 2 p.m. PST.  The six Spartan seniors will be honored after the meet, and former Spartan men's and women's gymnasts will be honored prior to the meet.
