Sacramento, Calif.-- On the road, the San José State women's gymnastics team had season-best scores on three of the four events, and Maddie Herr tied the eighth-best all-around score in school history. The Spartans scored a season-best 195.300 in a meet at Sacramento State in which the Hornets won the meet with a 196.475.

Herr led the Spartans with a career-best 39.325 in the all-around, tying for the eighth-best score in SJSU history.  She had a season-best 9.800 on vault, a 9.825 on bars, tied a career-best on beam with a 9.850 and a season-best 9.850 on floor.  Herr won the beam and tied for third on vault and floor.

San José State's 195.300 ties for the 13th-best team score in school history.  The Spartans started the meet on bars with a 48.750.  Herr led the team for the second consecutive week with a 9.825.  Marissa Unpingco tied her season high with a 9.775, followed by Alyssa Kaschak at 9.750, and Kaitlin Won, Haleigh Shepard and Rachel Heinl at 9.700.  San José State trailed Sacramento State 49.000-48.750 after the first rotation. 

Moving over to vault, San José State scored a season-high 48.725.  Herr and Erica Matos led the team as each scored a 9.800. Heinl received a season-best 9.725, followed by Hannah Gilbert and Josalyn Ray at 9.700 and Won at 9.675.  However, a school record 49.400 by the Hornets on bars gave Sacramento State a 98.400-97.475 lead after two rotations.

The third rotation found the Spartans on the floor, while Sacramento State moved to beam.  San José State score another season best with a 49.025.  Matos scored a career-best 9.850, while Herr also had a 9.850.  Ellie Pascoe-Long scored a 9.800, followed by Won at 9.775, Ray at 9.750 and Shepard at 9.700.  The Hornets scored a 48.800 on beam and held a 147.200-146.500 lead in the meet.

The Spartan beam team closed out the meet with a season-best 48.800, led by Herr's 9.850.  Unpingco scored a 9.825, followed by Kashak with a season-best 9.725, Won and Alisa Bogdan at 9.700 and Kendal Watt at 9.150.

San José State competes on the road next Friday, February 26, at Seattle Pacific with Alaska Anchorage.  The meet begins at 7 p.m.
