Denton, Texas--Gymnasts Maddie Herr and Kaitlin Won won individual titles and helped lead the San José State women's gymnastics team to a 194.375 and a first-place win at the Texas Woman's Quadrangular Sunday afternoon in Texas.

Herr tied for first on the bars with a season-best 9.850.  She finished tied for fourth in the all-around at 38.750, and added a 9.700 on vault, 9.650 on beam and 9.550 on floor.

Won won the all-around with a season-best 39.000.  She tied for second on floor with teammate Mackenzie Douglas at 9.775.  Won tied for fifth on the vault with a 9.775, fifth on bars at 9.775 and sixth on beam at 9.675.

The Spartans recorded the second-highest team score of the season with the 194.375.    The team started the day on the bars with a season-best 48.775.  Herr led the team with her 9.850, followed by Won at 9.775, Cami Guyer at 9.750, Douglas at 9.725, Rachel Heinl at 9.675 and Alyssa Kaschak at 8.800.

Beam was up next for the team. Gabrielle Kambur, in just her second routine of the season, tied for second with a career best 9.750.  Won and Amy Bellingham each scored a 9.675, followed by Herr at 9.650, Guyer at 9.550, and Kiley Field a 9.175.  The Spartans trailed Texas Woman's 97.175-97.075 after two rotations.

The floor team scored a 48.550 for the second consecutive meet to help the Spartans overtake the Pioneers, 145.625-145.550 after three rotations.  Douglas and Won led the team with 9.775s.  Field and Guyer each had 9.725, Herr had a 9.550, and Alyssa Montalban scored a 9.075.

In the final rotation, the vault team scored a 48.750 to give the Spartans the win.  Hannah Gilbert, Won and Rachel Heinl each scored a team-best 9.775.  Guyer had a 9.725, followed by Herr at 9.700 and Montalban at 9.675.

The Spartans compete on the road this Friday night, February 6, as the team travels to Southern Utah.  The meet begins at 7 p.m. MST/6 p.m. PST.
