San Jose, Calif.—Three high school golfers - Arielle Caronna of Orinda, Calif.; Alexandra Cooper of San Clemente, Calif.; and Cristina Glebova of San Jose, Calf., have signed National Letters-of-Intent to compete for the San Jose State University women’s golf team beginning with the 2015-16 season, as announced by Spartan head coach John Dormann.
Caronna plays at Miramonte High School. In junior golf, she participated in the 2014 Junior Tour of Northern California series. She won the Summer Series IV Girls First Flight Championship at Silver Creek in July by seven strokes after shooting 73-74-147. She finished second at the Summer Series II at Poppy Ridge and won the 2013 Danville Junior Open.
Cooper plays at San Clemente High School and was a second team All-County selection in 2013. Her junior year, she missed the CIF Southern Regional Championship by two strokes. Cooper finished tied for second at the 2013 Future Champions Golf Las Vegas Championship where she shot 74-72-146.
Glebova plays at Valley Christian High School. She finished 11th at the 2014 CCS Girls Golf Championship with a 74. She tied for first at the State Fair Junior Girls 15-17 Tournament in August after shooting a one-under 71. Glebova finished second with a 75 at the Robert O’Brien Memorial at Poplar Creek Golf Course in June.
“These three ladies bring depth to our lineup,” said Dormann. “This is a large signing class for golf. Arielle is a latecomer to golf but is very athletic. I like her energy and her athleticism. Alexandra is a very experienced player from Southern California. Her well-rounded game will help her compete at this level. Cristina is a powerful ball striker, and we can develop her overall game to take advantage of her length.
“All three are very excited to be Spartans, bring different qualities to our team and can develop into solid Division I players.”
