Women's Golf Ties For Second; Moston Third at Kent Youel Invitational

Kapolei, HawaiiSpartan women’s golfer Erica Moston shot a two-under 70 in the final round of the Kent Youel Invitational to place third individually at three-under par.  San Jose State finished tied for second in the three-round tournament played at the Kapolei Golf Course.

Moston shot under par for the sixth time in nine competitive rounds this season.  She has not shot worse that par for the season.  Moston finished third for the second consecutive tournament.

Katrina Delen-Briones shot a 73 on Wednesday to finish tied for ninth place.  Shraddhanjali Singh finished tied for 31st with a 227.  Cristina Corpus shot a 74 to tied for 38th, while Kanika Minocha shot her best round of the season with a 75 and tied Corpus at 38th place.

“Everyone did well for us this tournament,” said San Jose State assistant coach Dana Dormann.  “Each player was able to contribute to our team total with solid scores.  Erica was nice and calm and in control of her game.”

The Spartans have improved their placing in each of the first three tournaments of the season.  The team was fourth at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, third at the Ron Moore Invitational and second this week.

San Jose State next plays at the Cal Poly Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, November 3 and 4.  The Spartans will play 18 holes each day.

“We need to follow-up next week at Cal Poly with more strong performances,” said Spartan head coach John Dormann.  “We need everyone to keep producing strong scores after this performance and beating some top-20 teams.”
