Delen-Briones Shoots Best Round of Year At Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

Boulder City, Nev.-For only the second time in her San Jose State career, Katrina Delen-Briones shot a round in the 60s at a tournament.  Tuesday, she shot a 69 to lead the Spartans at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.

 

Delen-Briones' only other round in the 60s came at the 2009 Western Athletic Conference Championships where she started with a 67 in her first round.  Delen-Briones now has the lowest score for the team at +4 for the two rounds.

 

Madeleine Ziegert shot a 73 for her second round.  She made four birdies on her round, but two double bogeys and a bogey left her at one-over.  Stephanie Gibri shot a three-over par, 75 on Tuesday with a birdie on hole eight.  Jennifer Brumbaugh shot a 78 with birdies on her first (#10) and seventh holes (#16) of the day.  Jody Ho rounded out the Spartan scoring with an 84 including a birdie on hole number four.

 

The Spartans are tied for 15th in the team standings with UC Irvine at 602.  Arkansas continued its under-par play on Tuesday, shooting -12 on the day and is first by 18 strokes at -23.
