Women's Golf Finishes Eighth At Stanford Collegiate

Stanford, Calif.-Katrina Delen-Briones and Cristina Corpus each shot a one-over 72 Sunday afternoon as the San Jose State women's golf team finished eighth at the Stanford Collegiate on the Stanford Golf Course.

The Spartans teed off in the first groups of the day off of the first tee.  They started in foggy conditions, stopped, started, stopped for an hour and then continued on their final round. 

Delen-Briones and Corpus each has three birdies on their round.  Each birdied the par 4 second hole and 15th holes,  Briones had a birdie on the par 3 14th, while Corpus birdied the par 5 12th hole.  Delen-Briones finished tied for 17th, while Corpus tied for 33rd.

Madeleine Ziegert finished the tournament with a 75 in her final round that included two birdies and finished tied for 41st.  Jody Ho shot a 77 to finished tied for 57th, while Shraddhanjali Singh shot an 81 and ended tied for 60th.  Kanika Minocha, playing as an individual, shot an 83 and ended tied for 72nd.

"I am happy with our effort at the tournament, and it was good to beat some of the teams here," said San Jose State head coach John Dormann.  "Overall, we hit well and was a good experience for us as this tournament had a regional feel to it with the quality of teams participating. 

"Kat had another good tournament for herself after winning in Washington.  On her 21st birthday, it was nice to see Cristina shoot a low score for us and play well."

San Jose State next competes at the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational in Hawaii, November 2-4.
