Women's Golf Tied For Seventh After Second Round

Stanford-The Spartan women's golf team continued its steady play and is tied for seventh-place with Arizona at 585 after two rounds of the Stanford Intercollegiate at the Stanford Golf Course Saturday.

The Spartans are in a group of teams bunched from fifth-place Washington at 579 to 10th-place California at 589.   The team will play with Arizona and Oklahoma State on Sunday.

Individually, Katrina Delen-Briones shot a team-best one-over 72 on Saturday and is now tied for 17th at 143.  Madeleine Ziegert shot a 74 on the day with two birdies in her round and is now tied for 37th at 248.  Cristina Corpus shot four over for a two-day total of 147 and is tied for 33rd.  Shraddhanjali Singh is now tied for 41st at 149 after a 77, while Jody Ho is tied for 56th at 152 with an 80 on Saturday.  Kanika Minocha, competing as an individual, shot a 75 and is tied for 63rd at 153.

"We did not make a lot of birdies today despite the chances we had," said San Jose State head coach John Dormann.  "We just did not make the putts, and we need to make more tomorrow.  We have the opportunity on Sunday to have a really good tournament and need to have a strong finish and post some red numbers."

Final round action begins Sunday at 7:45 a.m. with the Spartans teeing off the first hole.  Admission is free to the tournament.  Live stats are available at www.golfstat.com and a link is available on www.sjsuspartans.com under "Live Stats."
