Women's Golf At Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

In their second competition of the 2009-10 season, the San Jose State women's golf team travels to Washington to compete in the 28th Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., October 5-7.

Competing for San Jose State at the tournament are Katrina Delen-Briones, Madeleine Ziegert, Cristina Corpus, Kimberly Punyasavatsut and Kanika Minocha.

The Sahalee Country Club is rated as one of the top-100 courses in America. The club hosted the 1998 PGA Championship and the 2002 World Golf Championship-NEC Invitational.

Teams competing with the Spartans include Brigham Young, California, Idaho, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Francisco, Stanford, Washington and Washington State.

"Historically, we have done well on hard courses, partly because we have a good short game," said San Jose State head coach John Dormann. "On this course, we need to make pars and not worry about birdies.

"This is the first time I have been to this course. They have hosted many prestigious events. Also, you can never know what the playing conditions will be because of the weather. It could be sunny and 60 degrees, or cold, rainy and windy."

Tee times for the three days are 9 a.m. on Monday, 10 a.m. on Tuesday, and 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com, and a link can be found on the Spartan web site at www.sjsuspartans.com and go to "Live Stats".
