Women's Golf Ninth After First Round

Sammamish, Wash.-Spartan Tiffany Nichols shot a 76 Monday at the first round of Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational being played at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.   San Jose State ended the first round in ninth place after shooting 314.

Nichols recorded nine pars and two birdies during her round Monday.  Teammate Megan Osland shot a 77 on a round that included 14 pars for the day.

Madeleine Ziegert shot an 81, including two birdies, while Rachelle Reali ended the day with an 83.

"We are playing a very difficult course where birdies are hard to come by," said Spartan head coach John Dormann.  "We need to make more putts and take advantage of the par 5s to make birdies."

The second round begins with tee times at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with live scoring on www.golfstat.com. San Jose State begins play at 10:45 a.m., beginning on the 10th tee.
