The Spartan women's golf team continues the fall schedule as the team plays at the 30th Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational hosted by the University of Washington. The three-day tournament begins on Monday, October 3 through Wednesday, October 5.
The teams will play 18 holes each day at the Sahalee Country club in Sammamish, Wash. The course will play as a par 72 at 6,063 yards. Sahalee has hosted many prestigious tournaments throughout the years including the 2010 U.S. Senior Open, 2002 NEC World Championship and the 1998 PGA Championship.
San Jose State will be represented by Tiffany Nichols, Madeleine Ziegert, Megan Osland, Jordanne Barr and Rachelle Reali.
"We are playing with a very young team next week," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "Sahalee is a championship test of golf. We are looking to starting the tournament stronger than the previous two and to keep that momentum for all 54 holes."
Six Spartans have won the individual title at the tournament - Katrina Delen-Briones (2009), Vibeke Stensrud (1995), Janice Moodie (1993), Tracy Hanson (1992), Julie Ralls (1985) and Juli Inkster (1982). Four San Jose State teams won the team title - 1995, 1993, 1992 and 1982.
Teams competing at the tournament include Brigham Young, California, Colorado, Gonzaga, Idaho, Nebraska, Oregon, Oregon State, UNLV, Washington and the Spartans.
Play begins Monday at 9:00 a.m. PDT, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., and Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. Live scoring will be available on www.golfstat.com.
