Women's Golf 12th At Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic

Fort Collins, Colo.-In her first collegiate tournament, San Jose State freshman Megan Osland shot a team-best 73 in the final round of the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic.  The Spartans finished the tournament in 12th place at 915 after shooting a 310 Tuesday.

 

Osland showed improvement in each of her three rounds at the tournament.  After starting with an 80, she cut five strokes off and shot a 75 in the second round.  On Tuesday, Osland finished the tournament with a 73, making two birdies on holes 12 and 14.  She ended in 44th place with a three-round total of 228.

 

Rachelle Reali also shot her best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 76 and finished at 233.  Madeleine Ziegert was the team's top finisher at 33rd place.  She shot a 78 on Tuesday to finish the three rounds +10 (226).  Jennifer Brumbaugh and Tiffany Nichols each shot an 83 Tuesday and finished at 235.

 

"This tournament showed us what we need to work on over the next two weeks," said Spartan head John Dormann.  "We are disappointed in how we started and finished the tournament and know we need more consistent scores throughout the three rounds.  I am please with the way Megan played for us in her first collegiate tournament."

 

San Jose State next competes at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on September 25 and 26 in Albuquerque, N.M.
