Inkster In Contention At Women's British Open

Berkshire, England-----Under par for the third round in as many days, former San Jose State University women’s golf star Juli Inkster, heads into the final round of the RICOH Women’s British Open tied for fourth place.

Inkster, a member of the San Jose State University Sports and LPGA Halls of Fame, has a 54-hole total of 10-under par 206 after a third-round 70 on the Sunningdale Golf Club. The Santa Cruz, Calif., native was three-under par after an eagle and birdie on the first two holes, but back-to-back bogeys on holes 11 and 12 negated the fast start.

She trails Yuri Fudoh of Japan, who moved into first place with a 69, by three strokes. Fudoh has a 203 total and leads Ji-Yai Shin of South Korea by one stroke. Ai Miyazato of Japan is third at 205. Inkster is tied with fellow American Cristie Kerr for fourth place.

Eleven of the top-12 players have posted under par scores in each of the first three rounds. Fudoh and Miyazato have recorded sub-70 scores in all three rounds.

Inkster opened her quest for an eighth major championship of her illustrious career with a championship-leading 65.
