A Good Month For Former Spartan Erica Moston

July has been a good month for former San Jose State women’s golfer Erica Moston as she has posted two top-five finishes in three tournaments as she plays on the Duramed FUTURES Tour.

This past weekend, Moston finished tied for fifth at The International at Concord in Concord, N.H.  Moston also shot her best round of the season with a 66 in the second round and was tied for second after two rounds, one shot behind the eventual champion.  She played in the final group on Sunday, shooting a 72 after she started the tournament with 71.

The first weekend in July, Moston also tied for fifth-place at a tournament, this time at the Falls Auto Group Classic in London, Ky.  She started the tournament with a 71 the followed with back-to-back 68s to shoot a 207, her best three-round score of the year.  Moston tied for fifth with another former Spartan, Marcela Leon from Monterrey, Mexico.

In 12 events played this year, Moston has finished in the top-10 three times and made the cut in 10 tournaments.  She is averaging 72.23 strokes per round.

Moston ranks 26th on the money list heading into this weekend’s tournament, the Alliance Bank Golf Classic in Syracuse, N.Y.  She moved up nine on the list after her fifth-place finish this past weekend.

This is the 30th year of the Duramed FUTURES Tour and the 12th that tour players can earn automatic exemptions onto the LPGA Tour.  This year, 10 LPGA memberships will be awarded, while 15 players, starting with position six on the Tour’s money list (excluding current LPGA members) will earn automatic entry into the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament.
