Edina, Minn.-----For the sixth time in her professional career, former San Jose State star Pat Hurst posted a top-25 finish at the United States Women’s Open golf championship.
Hurst, the 1989 NCAA champion as a sophomore at San Jose State, tied for 24th place with a 295 total on the par 73 Interlachen Country Club course. Since turning pro in 1995, the San Leandro, Calif., native has competed in nine U.S. Open championships and finished as high as second in 2006.
Janice Moodie, who starred for the Spartans in the mid-1990’s, also completed the 72-hole championship. She tied for 64th place with a 304 total. Her best finish a U.S. Open championship was seventh in 2002.
Two-time U.S. Open champion Juli Inkster did not make the 36-hole cut at this year's championship.
