Play Suspended In Athens, 2 Spartans Still On Course

Play at the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships has been suspended until Thursday morning as a second round of storms approached the University of Georgia Golf Course.

Three Spartans still have scores to be recorded for their round.  Kathleen Rojas has finished her round on the 18th green, but one of her playing partners still has to finish her round before the scores can be recorded.

Rachelle Reali’s group is playing the 18th, while Regan De Guzman’s group is on the 17th green.  All players will return to the course in the morning to finish the second round.  In all, four groups are still on the course.  Tee times for the third round will be set Thursday morning.

The suspension in play came at 8 p.m. EDT, and was the second delay of the day after play was suspended for just over two hours (4:58 p.m.-7 p.m. EDT) as storms and heavy rain rolled through the area.

The Spartans are currently tied for 10th with Vanderbilt at 12-over par.  Megan Osland finished her round with a 76 including a birdie on #18 and three for her round.  Jennifer Brumbaugh also finished with a 76 and birdied #18.
