Moston To Begin NCAA Golf Championships

Albuquerque, N.M.-----San Jose State University’s Erica Moston will conclude her successful 2007-08 season at the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships. The season’s only 72-hole event begins Tuesday, May 20, at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course.

Moston, the current Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, will play 18 holes daily weather permitting. The junior from Belmont, Calif., has an 8:00 a.m. (MDT) tee time on May 20 from hole #10 on the par 72 course on the University of New Mexico campus. On May 21, she has a 2:00 p.m. (MDT) tee time on the opening hole.

All 24 teams and six individuals will play 72 holes and the 156 players are competing for the individual championship. Moston goes into the NCAA Championship ranked 76th nationally by GolfStat with a 74.53 stroke average for 32 rounds of play this season.

The University of New Mexico course is the site of San Jose State University’s first NCAA Women’s Golf Championship title. The Spartans, which included current assistant coach and eventual LPGA Tour winner Dana (Lofland) Dormann, edged out Furman University by one stroke in 1987.
