Women's Golfers Honored At Team Banquet

The San Jose State women’s golf team handed out team awards Wednesday afternoon at the end of the year banquet.

Regan De Guzman received the Player of the Year Award after qualifying for the 2014 NCAA West Regional and receiving first team All-Mountain West honors.  She finished fourth in three tournaments this season – Mountain West Championship, Silverado Showdown and the Fresno State Classic.  De Guzman matched her career low round shot at San Jose State with a five-under 67 at the Silverado Showdown. 

My Leander was named the Freshman of the Year.  She had a 75.97 stroke average in her first season as a Spartan.  Leander finished fourth at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational where she shot a four-under 68 in the final round.

Rachelle Reali received the Spartan Spirit Award.  The four-year letterwinner recorded her best career finish at the Peg Barnard Invitational.  She was the top Spartan finisher as she was 10th after shooting her best round of the season, 70, in the first round of the tournament.

Megan Osland was honored as the Scholar Athlete.  She was second on the team in stroke average at 75.88 and finished sixth at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic.  Osland shot her lowest round of the season at the Anuenue with a 69 in the third round.
