Women's Golf At NCAA West Regional This Weekend

The Spartan women's golf team makes it 18th appearance at the NCAA West Regional this weekend at the Washington National Golf Club in Seattle, Wash.  San Jose State begins play Thursday afternoon and continues on Friday and Saturday. 


San Jose State got to the regional by winning its third consecutive Western Athletic Conference Championship.  The Spartans are seeded 22nd in the regional.  The top-eight finishers at the regional advance to the NCAA Championships, May 18-21 in Bryan, Texas.  The top-two individuals, not on an advancing team, also advance to the championships.


The field consists of 24 teams and three individuals.  Teams competing at the West Regional include USC, Virginia, Arizona, Georgia, Tennessee, Pepperdine, Iowa State, UC Davis, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington, Tulsa, Denver, San Diego State, BYU, New Mexico, Texas-San Antonio, Portland State, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Oral Roberts and UTEP.


The Spartans begin the regional Thursday afternoon as the team begins on the 10th hole at 1:25 p.m., playing with Oral Roberts and UTEP.  Friday, the team begins play on hole one at 8:55 a.m.  Saturday's start times will be determined at the conclusion of Friday's round.
