Colorado Springs, Colo.--San José State junior My Leander was named to the first team All-Mountain West women's golf team, while Regan De Guzman was named to the second team as announced by the Mountain West office and voted upon by the conference's women's golf head coaches.
Leander leads the Spartans with a 73.04 stroke average and earned her second all-conference recognition. She set numerous school records when she finished third at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at the end of October. Leander set the record for lowest single-round score (65), tied for the lowest round score in relation to par (-7), lowest 36-hole score (132), lowest 54-hole score (202) and lowest score in relation to par (-14). She finished tied for third at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate and 13th at last week's MW Championship. Leander has record six rounds under par and one round at par.
De Guzman earned her fourth all-conference honor of her Spartan career.. She is second on the team in stroke average at 73.68. Her lowest round of the year with a 68 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and finished tied for fifth at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic. De Guzman has recorded six under-par rounds this year and two par rounds over her 25 rounds played.
Leander and De Guzman helped the Spartans tie for first at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate. The San José State team makes its 22nd regional appearance next week at the NCAA Stanford Regional, May 5-7, at the Stanford Golf Course.
