April 17, 2014

San Jose, Calif.—Fanny Johansson, who won the 2013 California Community College Athletic Association women’s golf individual championship, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the San José State University women’s golf team starting in the 2014-15 season, as announced by Spartan head coach John Dormann.

Johansson, a freshman at Santa Barbara Community College and originally from Halmstad, Sweden, won the CCCAA title by eight shots after shooting a 74-77-151.  For her accomplishment, she was named an all-state honoree.  Johansson also helped the Vaqueros win the team state championship title by four shots.

For her successes this season, Johansson was named the Western State Conference Player of the Year.  She won the 2013 WSC individual title as she shot 74-75-149, and the team won the WSC Championship.

“We are excited to have Fanny join our team,” said Dormann.  “She brings depth to our lineup and is just scratching the surface of her golf potential.  We want to help her get to the next level as a Division I athlete.

Johansson joins Elizabeth Schultz from Lafayette, Calif., as this year’s signing class.
