After winning the past two Western Athletic Conference women's golf titles, the 2010-11 Spartan team faces tough competition this weekend at the 2011 Club Glove WAC Women's Golf Championships at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
The Spartans begin play on Friday at 8:50 a.m. PDT, as the team plays with Idaho and Hawaii. Saturday and Sunday tee times begin at 7:30 p.m. PDT, and are determined by play on Friday and Saturday.
San Jose State's lineup will be Madeleine Ziegert, Jody Ho, Jennifer Brumbaugh, Rachelle Reali and Katrina Delen-Briones.
The Spartans won last year's championship by one shot over Hawaii. Ziegert finished tied for sixth last year, and she and Delen-Briones were named first team All-WAC honors. In 2009, the team led all three rounds and won by 19 strokes over Idaho.
"Overall, our team, right now, is playing as well as we have all year," said Spartan coach John Dormann. "We just need to focus on the golf course and eliminate the big mistakes we have been making this year. We need to take advantage of our birdies opportunities on the course."
